The Cape Outback is a full service mountain bike expedition for teams of two riders each. Here's the entry package details:

COSTS:

Team entry fee: R11 900 per team

Massage package (optional): R420 per rider

Transfers (optional): Stellenbosch to Stilbay (14 March 2012): R650 per rider

                              Beloftebos to Stilbay (14 March 2012): R500 per rider

                              Beloftebos to Stellenbosch (18 March 2012: R500 per rider

 

WHAT'S INCLUDED FOR 2012?:

1. FOUR DAYS: The expedition starts in Still Bay at 07h00 on 15 March 2012. The final cut-off is at 15h00 at Beloftebos (near Stanford) on 18 March 2012.

2. THREE MEALS A DAY: Riders will receive three nutricious meals a day. A complimentary dinner on the evening of 14 March 2012 and breakfast on the morning of 15 March 2012 is included as well as lunch at the finish line at Beloftebos on 18 March 2012.

3. TENTED ACCOMMODATION: Each rider will be accommodated in a 2-person tent with a comfortable mattress in the expedition village each night. Accommodation is also provided to riders in the expedition village in Stilbay, the night before the start. If you need alternative accommodation in the area, click here.

4. EXPEDITION TOG BAG: All riders will receive a complimentary expedition tog bag as well as a complimentary bag transfer service between expedition villages each day. Please note that only official Cape Outback expedition tog bags will be transferred. Riders will have the option of collecting their expedition tog bags in the weeks before the start at Helderberg Cycle World in Somerset West (+27 21 850 0082). Bags not collected will be available at registration in Stilbay on 14 March 2012.

5. BIKE WASH: Each expedition village will have a complimentary bike wash facility as well as a bike storage facility. It will be located at the Helderberg Cycle World technical zone.

6. TECHNICAL SUPPORT: A technical support service will be provided by Helderberg Cycle World at each expedition village (Still Bay and Beloftebos excluded). You are welcome to contact Petie Viljoen or one of his capable staff members at Helderberg Cycle Word in connection with bicycle full maintenance packages during the expedition as well as pre-expedition bicycle servicing. Keeping your bicycle mechanically "healthy" during the expedition remains the responsibility of each rider.

7. AMPLE WATER TABLES: One of the hydration and lube stations on the route each day will also be a nutrition station.

8. EMERGENCY CREW: There is emergency medical crew at each stage finish line as well as mobile emergency medical crew on the route. Riders will be provided with an expedition emergency telephone number at the compulsory route briefing on the night before the start of the first stage.

9. ROUTE BRIEFINGS: There will be a compulsory route briefing for all riders each night immediately after dinner.

10. MASSAGE SERVICE: There is a massage service in each expedition village (Still Bay and Beloftebos excluded). Look out for the friendly masseuses at the Due South Recovery Zone. Massage packages can be pre-booked at a special tariff when entering for the expedition. (Click here for more details)

11. TRANSFER SERVICE: A limited transfer service is available for riders, their bicycles and their expedition tog bags to Still Bay on 14 March 2012. There will be two pick-up points for this service namely Stellenbosch (at the Stellenbosch Lodge) and Beloftebos (the finishline). There is also a transfer service available from Beloftebos back to Stellenbosch after the expedition. It leaves Beloftebos immediately after the prize giving ceremony. 12. EXPEDITION DVD: All riders will receive a complimentary copy of the Cape Outback MTB Expedition DVD 2012.

13. PHOTOS: All pictures taken during the expedition will be available free of charge to all riders.
