Profile and stats for stage 2 announced!
STAGE 2 (Jongensfontein to Nona Rosa)
Date: 25 April 2010
Start: 05h30
Cut-off: 17h00
Total distance: 77km
Total ascent: 1250m

Stage summary: Before first light we say goodbye to the Indian Ocean and head westwards towards a town called Vermaaklikheid. Night riding gear will be compulsory. After daybreak a short, but hair-raising descent will take you down to the Duiwenhoks River where a rubber duck shuttle will ferry you to the western bank of the river.
The longest climb of the day awaits you after the river crossing. Then it is downhill and an easy crossing of the Heidelberg plain. The last 5km of the stage is a fairly technical affair along the banks of the Slangrivier. One of the Hessequa's best kept secrets, the Nona Rosa Bush Camp, awaits you at the end of this "morning stage".
We spend the night on the banks of the not-so-mighty Slangrivier. Weather permitting, this will be the expedition's easiest stage and is your "afternoon off" to rest and recuperate. Use it wisely, because from now on the going gets tougher!
Have you read your ride magazine lately?
The feature writer, Steve Shapiro, gave the Cape Outback MTB Expedition a very nice and accurate write-up in the latest edition (February 2010) of ride magazine. So if you haven't acquired your copy yet, head down to your local bookstore or supermarket. Pay special attention to page 24!
